(Forgive the blur; I couldn't test, as the security guard was hawking me.
These plaid satin and patent platforms were part of an exhibit entitled The Tailor's Art, at the museum of my old alma mater, The Fashion Institute of Technology, or F.I.T. It covered the evolution of tailoring from around the 1600's to the present.
Now that my life is on fast-forward again, the events of the past month and a half seems like old news; but news it is, so I'll weave the ends into the intarsia picture of my current life. Let's get busy.
Burn Your UFO's?
It has been brought to my attention, from now veteran burner, and the don of the decks, DJ Adam Goldstone, that a number of knitting groups will represent at Burning Man this year. If you are not familiar with this mind-boggling art festival that takes place in the Nevada Desert for ten days, then check their site; they can explain it better than I. The particular coterie I was emailed about was The Madame De Farge Knitting Circle––isn't that a fierce name?

Saving Your Needles For Knitting
This is for my lady-friends in the city, who like like to do needlework and have a tipple––or two or three––while they're out. Now, I know some of y'all like to take the subway home, emboldend by the confidence of your needles and hooks doubling as weapons. But trust me, the reality is this: unless you're using straight needles, size thirteen and up––which would give an potential molester pause? I don't think so. Besides, why get blood on the fabulous silk tee, you're three rows away from finishing? If the ebony, glass or rosewood needle or hook breaks in the process, you'll just get enraged, and you know what hapens then––picture yourself in the precinct at 2:30am, with the cops going '" Hey Martinez, listen to what she stabbed 'im with…!'"
Rightrides has teamed up with Zipcar––the economic and ecological rental car of the future––to provide ladies with rides home, free of charge; get the skinny from the link, as a few rules apply. Bonne Marie, Zipcar is now in Chicago.
Well, I may have been off, but my hands certainly ain't been idle…
I'm in designer mode at the moment; but I can't really let loose the rampant multitude of concepts banging up against my skull, in earnest of being made manifest––until I discipline myself and complete the post-fabrication residuary, from other ideas. Ancestors, I could really use an assistant right about now.
First, I want to say that I haven't forgotten you, Franklin, or Joel. I have set aside some time over the weekend, just for the two of you. Don't worry, it's not too late in the season––the design was meant to be worn as an undershirt, too.
Among my thousands of reasons for loving Pearl, of Knitty City, is that she recognizes and supports my talent. This boat neck shell, of Classic Elite's Provence, is my first design for them.
In trying out a new technique, my gauge swatch will include the section of the garment, I am using said technique on. In this picture, in the side next to the front, I am turning the armhole in ribbing. The technique is from Vogue Knitting Quick Reference. I wanted the armholes to match the high––5"–– twisted rib for the back and I liked how the curve worked in terms of fit.
The next pic is of the front, before binding off. The lace is called Herringbone Lace and, of course, the stitch pattern is from A Treasury of Knitting, by Barbara G. Walker.
Two weeks ago, my bag, containing the back of the shell––three rows from finished––along with other articles valuable to me––was stolen, while I was out with Mr. K. No details, as I have moved on since then. The residual of this, is now I have to re-knit the F**KIN' back again (maybe I haven't moved on quite yet), in half the time. I thank the Ancestors for two blessings: a regular seat on the subway back and forth to work, and for Addi-Turbo® Needles. Y'all, I can only imagine what the other riders are thinking, when I look up and see that they're all staring at me like I'm insane. But hey, I've made it back up to the armhole (about ninety-five rows, using size five's) in five, forty-five minute sessions. I should be DONE over the weekend, and then I'ma jump up and do a dance!
Love conquers all, baby!

Hello,
Creditors are always on their back, and their paychecks are never enough to make ends meet.
And know that it is in your best interest to know what hospitals provide what services.
This means that you are both responsible for the debt.

I was unable to go to Burning Man when I lived out West--and now Knitting Burning Man! Wow!
Excellent use of Herringbone Lace--I'm glad to see that you in designer mode.
Cheers,
Jude

You've been up to lots of lovely things. So sorry about losing the piece you were working on, but I'm happy you are able to have lots of knitting time on the subway to make up for lost time. The lace pattern is beautiful. Can't wait to see your finished designs.

I love that Herringbone Lace. This is the second time that I've seen it. Now that I'm back, I can't wait to get back to my knitting 'cause my hands have been itching :). By the way, I love Addi Turbos! I think I'm addicted to them.
